xp oem activation codes

I have a HP piece of junk and was thinking of upgrading the CPU/Motherboard, the included XP is HPs modded version. question being can i use the activation code with a true version of XP disks

The activation code is for MS, not for HP. You just won't be able to use the HP recovery disk.

You might be able to not sure though. Look for xp key generator on google and try it for a usable key.
