Well I am planning on buying this sucker online but I really don't know what I am doing. I am quite the n00b I guess you could say. I was going to order from newegg.com but it seems that it only sells the "LE" version which is clocked at 230 instead of 250. Does anyone know of another good retailer with a good price? I found CDR Express and Jazz Technology had good prices and decent ratings at ResellerRatings but the most recent ratings were from August. A little weird to me. I am sorry that I am making you guys walk me through this but I am a little worried about ordering online. Thanks in advance guys.

AKAIK, all OEM Radeon 8500s are clocked at 250/250. The 230 is a typo.

Are you sure? Someone that reviewed said

"This board is NOT clocked at 250 Mhz. It is clocked just as the description states, 230 MHz. What's more it is not a good overclocker, if it your intention to save a few dollars with this board thinking you can overclock it to the standard frequency, think again. The board I received would not even clock to 250 MHz. I don't think its worth the few dollars savings."

Now he could have been an idiot. Just making sure.

I'm not sure. I have a retail Radeon 8500 so I can't comment on the OEM ones much.

Keep looking, Newegg DID have the OEM 250/250 for $200.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

There are tons of deals at eBay everyday. Check feedback and watch for tricky wording in item descriptions. Make sure its a retail box and not OEM. anyway eBay has protection up to a few hundred dollars. I built 90% of my system last year from new parts I bought off of eBay. Later, SparkyKC

I'm having a problem differentiating between 230 and 250 clocked radeons too.

I think there are two different versions.

I think the LE's are all clocked at 230Mhz (which is what newegg just switched to).

I think the standard white box (not LE) is 250Mhz.

But these are just themes I'm picking up. I have no true way of knowing because 95% of the stupid stores on pricewatch don't know the clock speed, and another 4% tell me it's 250 but deny the existence of a 230 or act stupid enough that I don't feel safe believing them.

BTW, does anyone know of the retail 8500 can get overclocked to a higher Mhz than the OEM?
