More about : geforce coming

I remember that link, saw it somewhere, don't trust it.
First of all where the hell did Nvidia know all those new chips? I mean how are they gonna know they will launch all these? If that was like that, why didn't they tell us the entire range of GF3 cards when they developped it? We never knew a Titanium GF3 was gonna come now did we?
I'd say this is rumours only, cuz they woulda announced something, and Tom woulda started ranting about it.
Most likely it's a GF3 Ultra what we are gonna see, but even GF4 MX420 is a BS rumour and can be spotted like a bear on a field! I mean it has nothing of better performance, and is rather a standard GF3!

no its not it has a Geforce 4 core, there should be a DX9 lounch at the same time so we will just have to wait and see..

The R300 wont come out in Feb 2002. Its too soon and could hurt the R200 series. Expect news drrve in feb 2002 with the R8800 that is coming in Feb 2002. The R300 is being made by the ARTx team.

I Love playing on my GameCube or PC cuz there both ATi powered...

That would be sweet indeed. I been itching to get a Gforce3, but the one I want isn't in at the moment. I would be so tick off if I bought it, then two months later a Geforce4 comes out and squashes it. I haven't heard anything, you may have just save me 300 bucks.

If all goes according to planned, NVidia will release their new chipset in April as they usually do, whatever it may be called. I read that the 3Dfx Rampage was supposed to be groundbreaking, but it could have been a silly rumor as well. Do you all think its possible that the GeForce4(whatever Nvidia names it) may be based on Rampage now that Nvidia has assimilated 3Dfx? I imagine GF3 Ti500 and "GeForce4" will drive down the prices on GF3 Ti 200s or Radeon 8500s(Street Price) when I pick up a couple of them August or September. They may even be SWEET sub $100 HOT Bargains!

My main hope for the GeForce4 is that it will lower prices on the GeForce3. Maybe I'll finally be able to afford one. :)

I think rampage was something comparable to the geforce 2 line and maybe inbetween GF2 and GF3. No one is completely sure as no one has a card but I think the specs were final and nailed down as impressive.
Let it be known I was and 'am'/'would be' a zealot zombie 3dfx supporter.
The cards were stable, fast and had the best compatibility (drivers and Glide). They were definitly the pioneers no one denys that. I guess there were others like Matrox Mystique or S3 Virge (think that was later tho..) and nvidias offerings sucked (riva/riva128 whatever they were) IMO but were nice 2d/3d, I still would have preferred the Rendition cards over those R100/200 I believe those were the cards that Direct3d was designed from.

About your question, I think Nvidia has proved itself to be a company that keeps tricks up its sleeve for a moment of need to steal the spotlight from a competitor, its called smart business. And 3dfx more than definitly had stuff we don't know about that was that high of quality. Don't expect everything to be layed out on the table but they will slowly implement what they need now and be silently working in the background on a future driver release or card.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasnt Quincunx something to do with 3dfx or Gigapixel or whatever that company 3dfx had possessed???

On a silly note, even SIERRA made a 3d card in the heydays (rendition) and packaged it with CyberGladiators or soemthing.
Damn, soon I'm going to start in on how superior I thought my C128 was (for MANY a year until after the "multimedia" explosion) to these PCs for years. Oh days of yore...

Hehehe, yeah, Quadro, and also dual Sledgehammers w/ 2GB RAM  !

Nah! the only thing the NV25/GeForce4 might have from the 3DFX team is the Antialiasing. The new stuff on it will be the DVD playback to include IDCT, which aparantly is supposed to supercede the offering from ATI. It will have an extra Vertex shader as well.

The nv30 chip will be the first product of the exSGI/exGigapixel/ex3DFX/nVidia combined efforts. Too many ex's. Is there no commitment?

I was just about to point that out. I believe he thought rcf was referring to core+mem for some reason. 275+275=550 (8500), which matches up.
