I have been copying files from the hard drive to a CD by simply dragging and
dropping with no problem. For some reason I can no longer do that. The cursor
carries the file across to the CD but it doesn't add. I get the message to
put in a CD which I do, both CD-R and CD-RW with the same result. The
programs I have added are Roxio Easy CD Basic 6 on top of Basic 5 which came
installed and never did burn any CDs, Basic 6 would not burn so bought Basic
7 which also would not burn. I have removed all the Roxio programs and have
cleared all references to Roxio and Adaptec from the registry. In all cases
I keep getting the message to put in a new CD. This also happens when I try
to burn with Real or WMP. Sometimes I get the message that "Windows cannot
perform this function" or something to that effect. In checking with My
Computer I find the "Recording" tab is active. All I want to do is preserve
some special files to a CD, I don't care about burning music.

In Roxio 5, you need to look at DirectCD. Roxio has renmaed this to Drag to
CD, since version 6.
