The drivers are beta I think improves preformance on the entire radeon family including the Radeon 64mb VIVO

1) aquamark now works with landscapelights
2) all d3d and opengl scores up
3) this is a newer opengl core than the 6006
4) fixes some issues with RTCW

Some people getting 60+ fps in nature demo

AMD_MAN do us all a favour and tell us what you think of the new drivers if you install.

Clean install with a little reg cleaning maybe needed

I tried it! It's not too good. My 3DMark2001 score is roughly the same as the 3286 drivers, ~7300. UT is no better, both 1024*768 and 1600*1200. I got a ~90fps for 1024*768 and ~80fps for 1600*1200. That's all I've tested so far. I'll be back with more but these leaked drivers seem unimpressive, so far.

Some radeon users got only improved results after cleaning the registry of any remains of the prevoius drivers just a suggestion which you might have tried already

Anisotropic filtering seems to have a bigger toll on performance now which is a bad thing but Smooth vision performance has been improved immensely. I'm seeing scores of 100+fps in Quake III with 2X Quality Smoothvision! That's amazing! Smoothvision may beat Quincunx after all! ATI seems to have added a new rotation feature to allow you to rotate your desktop. It doesn't seem to work on my CRT monitor and I believe this feature is only for LCDs. More to come!!!

Ummm, what are you talking about? That's the review of the Radeon 8500 with the original drivers!

More good news!!! The Radeon 8500 + UT = A gamer's dream come true!! AMAZING! Running the Radeon 8500 a 1024*768*32 + 2X Quality SmoothVision = No performance loss but excellent quality. It looks as good, if not better than UT at 1600*1200. Plus, with no performance loss, I'll be playing UT with SmoothVision all the time!

Of course, but I wouldn't be surprised if ATI releases new official drivers on Monday.

Yeah, hehe. Quincunx, is still superior to Smoothvision performance-wise, though.

i'm currently using the 4.13.7075...didnt like the 4.13.7189 one...

Reply to oymd

well...i tried them.....and there is some improvement....
- around 90 more marks on 3DMARK2001
- around 15fps on UT
- 4 fps on villagemark
- Q3 demo66: 10fps improvement...although during game its still at 90fps....

however multimedia centre 7.1 doesnt work now...well it does...but icant view my MP2 movies...only the avi????

these new beta drivers didnt really improve performance on my computer very much.
i gained about 100 points on 3dmark2k1, mostly in the nature test though(i got about 32 fps with the 3286 drivers, around 45 fps with the beta)
UT didnt have any noticable improvements(except w/ smoothvision)
but there are some glitches with the text on my desktop (im running win xp pro.)
some of the text on the menu bar is blocked shaped and is unreadable.
it goes away when i disable the "smooth edges around screen font" option
anyways...like what AMD_Man said...not much improvement.
then again...these are just beta drivers and are about three months old...
