I recently had some grief with the installation of a GF3 Ti200 card. It would not not display the T&L effects!! In 3dMark2001 I only got ~3000, half the screens where blank and most of the others had artifacts where fog and lighting effects should have been. Would this be possibly caused by not having enough power available? I have a 230w power supply unit and specs as below.

I've done everything else possible.. DX8.1, latest VIA drivers, a multitude of nVidia drivers, tweaked settings and full format and reinstall of Win98se... no joy.

____
AMD Athlon 700
320MB PC133 SDRAM
ASUS K7V VIA KX133 Mobo
Leadtek GF3 Ti 200
SB Live! Value
WD 15GB HDD
WD 5GB HDD
Toshiba CD-ROM 36x
Windows 98 SE
AlphaScan 511S
Conexant HCF V90 56K Speakerphone PCI Modem

i doubt the power supply has anything to do with the graphics card....it just keeps you computer from restarting randomly...anyways...3000 seems a tad low for 3dmark2k1 (but not odd though) w/ your gf3 ti200.
you can try removing your vid card drivers and reinstalling them...other than that....i wouldnt know what is wrong
btw...if you have some money to burn...go out and buy yourself at least a 300W power supply (just cause)...

Usually, when the GPU draws too much power, usually during a game or game simulation, and the power supply can't keep up, the system locks or reboots.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

Found the following reference to your problem at <A HREF="http://" target="_new">www.geforcefaq.com&lt;/A>

"There are also some programs that have problems (stuttering, flashing or corrupted textures, blank screens) when the aperture size is set too high. Experiment and see which setting is best for your system and programs."

WWW.geforcefaq.com also recommends that the PSU should supply a minimum of 20 amps on the 3.3volt line and 30 amps on the 5 volt line when used with the combination of an Athlon and a Geforce card. That was with the orignal Geforce256, though. They mention Geforce2 series use less power. No mention of power requirements for Geforce3 series.

And unlike popular belief that aperature size should be half of total system memory, It really shouldn't be over double the size thats on your vid card. Aperature size causes more problems than ever now days because people use the same old setting with "New" hardware.

Crap, all the good ones are already taken.

When I went from 128 to 256(on 512 megs system ram) I gained several hundred 3dmark2001 points. I think that apeture should be half system ram no less than the amount on your videocard however. Unless you experience problems.
