lol, I helped 3 of my friends pick PC components too! One bought a 1.7GHz P4 and 256MB RDRAM with an ABIT TH7-II mobo and GeForce2 Ultra(his brother is a computer programmer and he demanded Intel), one bought a 1.33GHz Athlon and 256MB CL2 PC133 SDRAM with an IWill KK266Plus (he wanted it as cheap as possible, but he wanted an AMD system with a decent amount of RAM and a reasonable graphics card, Asus V7100 Pro 64MB, GeForce2MX-400 with 4.5ns RAM). My other friend wanted a computer for CAD and moderate 3D gaming for under $1000 so he got an AXP1600+, 256MB DDR RAM, Asus A7V266-E and Radeon 7200.
Anyway, I've learned a lot by helping them and now I have more experience with those components.
