I am currently running a geforce 2 ultra w/tv out ... every single app i run runs without so much as a stutter.. and I max my settings out as well... would it be worth it to purchase a g3ti500 or should I wait for the next gen of vid cards?

Wait! Moving up is just not worth it right now! At least wait for the GeForce4.

i agree, unless your on a budget, like me, by all means wait a couple months and save a lil more to get something brand spanking new and faster and better and..sweeeeter :)

more bang for thy buck gives me better benches then matisaro ;)

MY comrades, whos suggestions below are indeed the safe and wise course, have urged you to err on the side of caution.

However, download the return to castle wolfenstein demo.....turn on all effects to maximum....then turn on anti ailasing and anisotropic filtering.......and after you are finished crying at your 400 dollar videocards inadequacy ;-)....get a gf3 ti500.

I've had the RTCW demo on my comp. for some time now... play it with all turned on and maxed and it runs like everything else..smooth.

I went from a GF2 GTS 64meg to a Ti500. It pretty much lets me run thing at 1280x1024 just a touch faster than I could run most stuff at 1024x768 before.

I would get a GF3 if I were you BUT I would wait till the price drops about another $100 bucks...

I dont believe you are running with aa and anisotropic and still have smooth gameplay without a gf3/radeon8500.

You should definitely wait for the next generatation of video card since nVidia is going to announce them next month.

anisotropic rulez. Anti-aliasing is the suck. I just don't get all the hype...why don't people save the performance hit for a bump in resolution?

Wait!

Unless you have money to throw around, going from a GF2 Ultra to a GF3 simply isn't worth it - you will be spending $300 for a marginal increase in performance.

Moreover, hardware upgrades should never outpace needs - you said yourself that everything you have runs without a stutter, so why upgrade?

When I upgraded, I went from a TNT2 Ultra to a GF3. That made sense. GF2U -> GF3 doesn't.
