I need someone to fill me in on TwinView technology.

In general I think Twinview is like Dual Head

If I want to watch DVD(via PC DVD Drive) on a TV and at the same time do some work on my PC...will I need a card that supports twinview?.....or Twinview doens't really mean that.

I know in general most cards have a monitor output, tv output and video input. Can I assume that I can use the tv and monitor at the same time....asumming performace is perfect.

Twinview is the name of nvidia's dual monitor support. Matrox calls it Dual Head and ATi Hydravision.

With dual head you can: have an expanded desktop (across two monitors), have two different desktops, watch DVD on one and do something else on the other etc. The list of things differs on each card so you have to read either a review or the manufacturer's info page.

P.S. Because i am thinking of buying a dual display system i did some research and my opinion is that the ATi Radeon VE is the best dual monitor card.

Unless I'm mistaken here, I though that the twinview from nVidia limited you to using one display at a time. In other words you could output to your TV or your monitor but not both at the same time.

The ATI series, on the other hand, uses Hydravision and can support 2 different outputs to 2 different displays and even 2 different screens at the same time.

Am I mistaken?
