i just bought a new sony 19" g420. the text is a bit blurry at 1280 and 1600 resolutions. i read in a psot that the monitor isn't the problem, rather it's the video card. i have an asus v7700 deluxe(geforce 2 gts), can anyone confirm or deny this?

I have a 420gs and I was running a gf2 gts (ti500 now). No problems here.

What OS are you running? How bad is the blurryness? Keep in mind Trinitrons aren't quite as sharp as shadow mask monitors...just a hell of a lot brighter with better colors.

i'm not too familiar with anti-aliasing but isn't that just in games, or is it on the desktop too?

Check if you're refresh rate is set to 70 or 85 Hz.

My case has so many fans that it hovers above the ground   .

Yes, the GF2 has bad 2D. It's the same problem with all GF2's (no mater who the maker is) and has to do with FCC RF emmisions standards. OC workbench has a forum entry where they tell you how to greatly improve the GF2's 2D performance by removing 9 capacitators from the board. Of course this will void your warrenty. I'll see if I can find the link for you.
