I am running Windows XP Pro, and i just did full wipe and reistall of my system, but for some reason i keep getting this error every few hours -

error signature
AppName: explorer.exe
Appver: 6.0.2800.1221
ModName: explorer.exe
Modver: 6.0.2800.1221
Offset: 0000d7fe

---------
As i said earlier i get this error ever other hour, every day! I have no bad sectors on my hardrive, its not over clocked or anything of that nature, and this is the first time it started doing this. I've had this system for 6 months or so.

I've seen at least two dozen people have the exact same problem with non-Intel systems after installing SP1. These days, unless the system has an Intel chipset, I avoid the service pack, and only install the necessary hotfixes. This method appears to avoid the problem entirely.

Unless you've got big hard drives that need support for 48-bit addressing, or USB 2.0 devices, my advice would be to stay away from the service pack. And if you must install SP1, take care not to install SP1 for Internet Explorer more than once. It's included in the operating system service pack.

And checking your memory for possible problems would also be a good idea, if nothing else, just to rule out the physical memory from the scenario:

that fix doesnt work. looks like i have to do a reinstall. a funny not though. for the techs out their have you ever wondered why when you install all the web updates from windows updates that you get a virus? I have found this to be true over 20 times in the past 2 months. the virus is called dllhost or something similar. Hats off to ms for messing something else up.
