Hello

I believe I've got a problem with my Creative GeForce 3 Ti500 without overclocking(purchased in England). When I run anything in 3D like 3D Mark, any 3D game e.g. Max payne / Ghost Recon, it just drops to the desktop after 5 minutes or so.... sometimes crashes with a disp.dll error?

My system specs are :
Intel P4 1.8Ghz (Not Overclocked)
Asus P4T-E
2 x 512MB (1GB) PC800 RDRAM Memory (Kingston ValueRam)
80 GB HD
Creative SB Audigy Player
Running Windows ME

I had a chat on creaf.com's tech support, and they suggested that running a machine with 1GB memory and Windows ME could cause this problem. Is that a lightly cause or not? (seemed unlightly to me)

If anyone else has had this problem, even if you can't fix it, it would be good to know. Or ANY suggestions on what the problem might be.....

Do you have all the latest drivers? And how many Watt is your powersupply?
In Windows98 using more then 512 MB RAM gives problems, but I don't know if WindowsME has the same problem, you could see if removing half the RAM fixes the problem.
Also check if you don't have any resource (IRQ) conflicts.

My case has so many fans that it hovers above the ground   .

Thanks for replying svol. Since then I've actually got the system working well by installing Windows XP - it's seems to be running absolutely fine now!! I doubted XP, not anymore - it'll be installed on any new systems.

I guess WinME and Win98/95 both have problems with more than 512MB RAM. Why would that be though??? Is it just Microsoft being crap, or is there some technical reason?

FYI, I was running the latest Creative drivers (v21.85 - not latest nVidia). It was running with a 300W PSU, and I couldn't split the memory because it's RDRAM (2x512MB) - won't run with just the one.

Thanks anyway
!
