Crashman is the one to answer this, but I am 80% certain that the answer is no. You can run an AGP4x on an AGP2x board, but (I believe) the AGP1x uses a different voltage (or somesuch) and the 2x cards are not backwards compatible to 1x.

Of course, I'm 20% certain that I could be wrong. Crashman, where are you?

I put a GeForce2 GTS on an Abit LX6 and it worked fine.

I normally sit when I'm at the computer, but whatever.

The LX was an AGP2x chipset to the best of my knowlege. I could go over to my other apartment and fire one up if I felt compeled to check.
