Can't figure this out.
If I go to the ATi web site it suggests using this driver for the Radeon 7500 and WindowsXP: 6.13.3276
I use Windows Update frequently and there was a driver update for the 7500: 6.13.10.6015
The 6.13.3276 driver I have used since it was released and this was the first time Windows Update recommended changing the driver.
I installed the new driver from Windows Update expecting the worst outcome.
To my surprise Windows booted up normally. My resolution and refresh rates were unchanged. It was like nothing happened.
Do the 3DMark2001 test expecting the new driver to fizzel.
The result with the new driver comes up and it is a full 220 points higher then my previous driver. The one recommended by ATi.
On their site there is no indication that the driver Windows Update installed exists.
WTF is up with ATi? Why would they not promote the new driver on their website?
I also saw on the Mad Onion site there is a 7500 beta driver out. It's numbered 6.13.10.6018

Confused but happy.

Apparently, those new drivers have just been recently certified by Microsoft! That's great news! We have a new set of certified drivers! Hmm, perhaps ATI will update their site later today?

I'm running the 6018 beta's in XP. Too bad they aren't as good as win98. In win98 with no tweaking i got 5950 3dmarks in 3dmark2k1 on a radeon 64mb ddr vivo SE. No overclocking or nothing. That's on a 1.1ghz athlon.
