I have a very expensive power supply on my bench I received free. It had a blow fuse which I replaced, and it still doesn't work. There's a logic chip (one of those cheap 8 pin things like they sell in Radio Shack) with shiney marks on the top. Does this necessarily mean it's fried? I can't see any visable change to the surface, but shiney usually means melted. Any opinion?
i'd try a trip to radio shack and replace the logic chip... it probably melted at the same time the fuse went...
also try and work out why the fuse blew..

My page crashed on that last post - I presume you meant how to find the LIVE wires by saying "the ones that are always on" if so its gonna be either yellow or black. It's not the red one so I've been reliably informed.
