Just wondering about this BIOS setting. Mine is currently set to 64MB, and I'm wondering if there is any advantage to changing this value. I've read conflicting arguments on this topic. One site said that changing this value (to a higher one) offers no benefit for performance. Another site says that this value should "usually" be set to 1/2 of the amount of RAM in the system.

So I ask you people for your opinions on this matter. For anyone that needs to know, I have an ASUS v7100PRO MX-400 card w/ 64MB video Ram, and I currently have 512 MB of PC-133 SDRAM installed.

Is there any use/benefit in changing this BIOS setting to a higher one? If so, how high is "good"? Also, does changing this value adversely affect overall system performance? Just wondering. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks

-P

It's how much system RAM is reserved for your video system. 128MB seems to be the best setting, but you're free to test it yourself. Run 3DMark at different settings, and you'll discover which is the best.

I would set it to 256, when you play games there will be much more memory available for the videocard and games might run faster/better, but you have to test for yourself.

My case has so many fans that it hovers above the ground   .

All I can say is that ATI cards generally run best with a 128MB AGP Aperture.
