Hello, I have found some large files in the system volume information
directory. I was backing up my computer files using a maxtor II. I did not
like how it did it so I did a system restore. Something then happened, and
these file are no longer accessible to me. I did a defrag and lo and behold,
there they were under a directory called system volume information. I want
to delete them, they are taking up about 18gb. Help would be really
appreciated on this one. Thanks

Those are the System Restore files.
There are two ways:
1. Go to System Restore.
Click "System Restore Settings" on the left side.
From there you can turn off System Restore.
Reboot and all the Restore Points will be gone.
You can also adjust the space allocated to System Restore from that page.
You should turn on System Restore if desire the protection.

2. Delete all but the last Restore Point
Go to Recycle bin
Click "More Options" tab
Under "System Restore" click "Clean up"
