As we have expected, ATI announced today two new graphics cards based on RADEON 8500 chips and equipped with 128MB graphics memory. Trying to pass ahead of NVIDIA, which will announce its new GeForce4 graphics family in two days and understanding pretty well that after the launching of GeForce4 its own new products will get much less attention, ATI had to undertake something. As a result, ATI couldn’t think of anything better than to provide its old graphics solutions with more memory, namely the RADEON 8500 working at 275MHz clock frequency and RADEON 8500LE working at 250MHz core clock. The recommended retail price for the 128MB RADEON 8500 (with VGA-, DVI- and S-Video Outs) is set equal to $299, and for the 128MB RADEON 8500LE - $199. The new products are expected to appear in retail in March.

At the same time ATI announced that they reduced the prices for their RADEON 7500 graphics solution: now it sells at $149. This way, the prices show that RADEON 7500 will compete with GeForce4 MX440, 128MB RADEON 8500LE will be in the same price group as GeForce4 MX460 and RADEON 8500 with 128MB memory will be a competitor to GeForce4 Ti4400. As for the top model, GeForce4 Ti4600, ATI can’t offer anything in response.

In the nearest future, ATI is going to launch two more graphics cards equipped with 128MB of memory. They will be RADEON 8500XT working at 300MHz and a solution known as RV250 working at 350MHz core clock. However, these solutions are very unlikely to allow ATI to compete with NVIDIA in the performance sector. The next generation chip, the 0.13micron R300 with 400MHz core and 400Mhz memory frequencies will be announced in mid Q2 (April-May) and it is exactly the one most likely to become a real rival to GeForce4 Ti4600.

From XBITLAB

RADEON 8500 128 meg/Radeon 8500 XT/RV250
Rumor were wild at ATI after the release of Raden 8500 many rumor have state of ATI that have special trick of it own.

Radeon 7500 will be again the cheapest geforce 4 MX.
Radeon 8500 VS the cheapest of TI series if there can put there driver at there full potencial if not the best MX card.
8500 XT will be again TI4400 again if the can make there driver work.
Rv250 will be agian Ti4400 or 4600 if there driver issue it solve.R300 vs Geforce 5 under DX9/0.13 micron unlike what XBITLAB have say.

Dont forget that geforce 4 Ti series was a preview the card is not avaible now, wait to sold all the geforce TI500 at a premium price beforce releasing geforce 4.

In any case that ATI fail they just have to cut price on there series for 2 or 3 month after that DX9 will start.

um, not to be mean or anything but that sounded like a bunch of BS. All of that sounded like it was just made up out of your head. I can find a million different things about that post that was stupid but the thing about the 8500 competing with the GF4mx was a bunch of bull, did you read the entire article? You might want to provide some evidence of where you got these AMAZING reports that you are providing to us. It sounds to me like your just adding to the rumors yourself. Sorry dude but we need some proof here, that sounds to specific.

At hardware.fr have made a review of mx series and ti series

7500 was losing vs mx440 by 5 to 10 higer was the resolution the better it is for the 7500.Dont forget that 7500 have 2 pixel rendering so a low fill rate but a high texture fill rate.

Radeon 8500 OEM will be again MX 460

Greatly win be ATI also better 2D and featuring full feldge DX8 also there more improment to come.Geforce 3 ti 200 have also better score that mx 460.MX series are just good for OEM due to there name geforce 4 look great.

Titinium series will get vs retail 8500 and XT version and RV250.Let see in 2 month who will win the perfromance sector.Little adventage for nvidia i agreed.Driver will have a 2 month of improvement and i will be surprise if there still juice in geforce 4.Also MPEG on mx series have found allmost no software support.

The more memory the more you can overclock the chip the better.
new ati rumors new cards ati cards: R200. R300
R200: 250mhz, 4 rendering pipelines, .15 micron process
R300: 350mhz, 6 pipelines, .15 micron process

one french site even said that Radeon 2 will have: 350mhz core clock speed, 8 pipelines. .15 micron procedd

I think it will be made in .15 micron process though because everybody says that it will.
