Two questions. I've seen very clear instructions on how to put a PC or
laptop into 'standby' or 'hibernation'. but I can't find ANYWHERE how to
bring the PC or laptop out of standby or hibernation.

Can someone please tell me...........

1. How to come out of 'standby'?

2. How to come out of 'hibernation'?

Thanks

To come back from hibernation just run your pc. It will open.
To come back from stand by mýve your mouse or hit a key on keyboard.

Thank you for your help. I'm not sure what you mean by "just run your pc.".
Does hibernation switch the PC off? Do I just switch the PC on again or do I
have to do something different? Sorry to sound so dim............ :(

The fault is because of my english.. sorry.

i have to say "turn on" your pc.
here is a explain of what hibernate is:

When you select hibernate option. all your work will saved in a file named
hiberfil.sys and your computer turns off. When you turn on your pc
everything works again.

For example. you are listening a song in WMP. wmp played 2 minutes of song
and you select hibernate. everything will close. When you turn on your
computer. wmp will continue playing the song from the second minute.

i think this will help you.

Just to add some notes about STANDBY:

It looks like an increasing number of laptops now use S3 as the standby
mode, rather than the previously common S1. To come out of S1, it is
normally enough to move the mouse or hit a key on the keyboard. The two
laptops I've seen that use S3, require you to press the power button to
resume.

Phew! Thank you very much for making this comment bxf. After the previous
explanation about how to reactivate after standby and hibernation, I still
couldn't get my laptop to reactivate after standby. I assumed something was
at fault with the laptop and was beginning to tear my hair out!!

Now after pressing the power button, everything is as you said it would
be.... thank you :-)
