Ok so i'm looking at the g4 mx and it has a S-VHS port on it with a converter to RCA. So, i can run that rca video cable to my TV and use that to play avi's or mpegs. Anyone have experience with a g3 doing this? Hows the quality etc?

And for the sound, i can run my sound to my tv too from my digital out on my sb card but i heard that can lag behind the video. My computer sound system is better than the tv and thier close so i can just run the sound off the computer and the video through the tv right?

Basically just wanting to set up a system that i can play my movies on my pc through my TV and the g4 looks to be pretty capable of doing that.

TV is just a 21" sony trinitron until i get a new big screen HDTV but it's a lot better than watching stuff on a moniter.

i've gotta geforce 2 gts with tv out, and looking at windows desktop through a tv will give you brain trauma. it's truly awful probably due to a poor pixel thingy or refresh rate on the tv, but in games its fine. looks like console quality, maybe a bit better, but i've not tried watching movies through it, but judging by the games i've played through it, it should be fine. It's certainly no worse(probably better) than the sort of quality a console would kick out, although i found that the pincushion was way off and i couldn't alter it, but other than that it kicks arse.

If you want to see you monitor image on your tv ati is the only way to go. ati cards have better DVD quality and vivo quality.
