I just purchased an ATI 8500DV all-in-wonder...

I'm having problems getting the card to install

This card is completely unstable...

I had two ATI cards in my system before trying to install this one...

I had the ATI RAGE FURY PRO 32MB AGP and a RADEON 32MB PCI card installed...

I removed both of the ATI cards, removed all device drives, etc.. and installed the 8500DV...

At one point i could logon to XP, but brought the system down, didn't install the card...

It seems like once the card gets warm / heated up... it becomes very unstable...

At one point i couldn't even get into the CMOS... The display would show nothing but garbage....

I've tried safe mode, etc...

I'm very knowledgable about computers and pc's in geneeral
and i've never had this type of problem ever...

Once it starts acting up, all i get is vertical bars on my screen ( if i can get into windows xp ) or i get garbage on the crt when it comes up after displaying the memory, cpu, etc..

Is anyone else seeing this type of behavior...

CPU: AMD 1.2G
MBOARD: IWILL 266 PLUS
MEM: 1GB ( 256 x 256 x 512 )

Windows XP Professional

I have played with AIW 8500DV on many systems without the problem you have described . But you could install the lastest driver from ATI website and see if the problom goes away. The only problen had one time was the system would hang when playing TV after installing the card on a system which had installed ATI Radeon 32M, ATI AIW Radeon 32M, and ATI AIW Rage 128 before.
Or you may upgrade your Video BIOS, for I had met with such a situation that the card would not boot into WinMe before upgrading the BIOS, but after upgrading it worked fine with WinMe. However upgrading a BIOS is risky business, you must do it at your own risk.
