I've got a Geforce2 MX (the one before the named 200 and the 400) and it's currently running at 2X (informed by Winfox utility). How do I change it? I have Win98 and a p2b board with no setting in bios for AGP multiplier.

I believe this is what you need. It's called TweakUI and it allows you to make registry edits without having to actually go into the registry. I'm pretty sure this utility allows you to enable AGP4x and also Sideband addressing. You should save a backup of your current registry before you use this utility.

P2B=BX=AGP2x. Nothing you can do about it. "Upgrading" to an i815 board would give you AGP4x at the expense of memory performance, and VIA is even worse!

With your card the difference between 2x and 4x is miniscule, practically immesurable anyway, so be happy at 2x.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

Dang Crash is right. I should know because I've got a P2B-F and it can't go over AGP2X. Sorry about that. I can't believe I forgot about that.

I'd say you're on the verge of a ex-Voodoo 3 ex-Geforce256 DDR card so don't expect such hooey performance off it...
If you still value MX cards and don't need new technology, you should opt for GF4 MXs in the near future, which start at 99$ and up to 179$.
If not, then time for big upgrade. You probably have a Pentium 2, if not 3 of the early ones.
