I am in the market for a new computer to be used extensively for 3d gaming. I recently read the article "Aquanox - Bringing 3D To Its Knees" posted on this site. Apparently, modern CPU power (1.3 Ghz or better) has very little to do with today's frame rates while graphics card power will make or break you.

1) Is this only the case with Aquanox or is it any newer 3d game?

2) I am planning on buying a GeForce 4-4600 card when they become available. Is an AMD 2000+ worth it for a couple of FPS or would you recommend an 1800 or 1900 and spend the extra money on some good PC speakers?

Thanks in advance.

i would go with either the 1800 or 1900 and overclock it to 2000

This will be for almost all games, because the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) will do most of the 3D rendering stuff. The difference between an AMD XP1900 and 2000 will be very small with 3D performance.

My case has so many fans that it hovers above the ground   .
