Yesterday we received the first Power-color MX440 in ,already sold out thought...

And today we received the EVGAs ,probably we'll be out by the end of the day...

So look in your local stores and ask for them...

One step forward for Nvidia's profits, one leap backwards towards advancing 3D product support.

The GF4 MX may perform well on todays stuff, but it's going to hurt what people will try to code for in tomorow's games, as well as confuse the customer.

But still the price point is a little lower than the GF2 Ti's ,so it is'nt so bad.

What's the price varlo?
It better be worth the lowest of the GF4 MXs' price. If 99$ US is the price, I hope so, it will help value market, but not for me!
I want GF4 Ti4600 or above, nothing below!

The problem in the GF4 pricing scheme is that the GF3 has to be in there somewhere, and unless they stop manufacturing them, their price should drop down to around what the GF4 MX prices are, and having to chose between a GF4 MX and a GF3, most uninformed people will chose the GF4 MX instead of the GF3, dispite the fact that the GF3 will have a longer lifespan with it's ability to support newer features.

And that is the lowest of the GF4MX chips?
Man that is highway robbery!
When US prices look sweet, Canada's suck...geez how promotional of Nvidia!
Oh well, at some point the GF4 Ti4600 will go down to 200$, and there will be even more powerful chips. I want to get the new one talked about a fully programmable GPU, now that would mean total special effects without a tin of performance decrease!!

The MX420 won't even support DDR mem, and is crippled beyond belief.

My bad, I mistook the names! (their naming schemes for so many cards are confusing dontcha think?)
Ah then the price is ok for the second of the MXs. I thought you meant the MX 420, the real crappy one, for 200$, which is no way logical! Anyway my bad!

Has Asus said anything about GF4s? What are they labelling the "serie" number? V9000?

a b U Graphics card
February 16, 2002 7:56:56 PM

Er, I'm fairly certain that an old GeForce2 GTS would beet that card rather easily.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?
February 17, 2002 1:59:36 AM

no pixel and vertex shaders on both of them !!! So, nvidia just update the FSAA and 1 or 2 things. Its a GeForce 2 MX just tweaked thats all.

Wait till Doom 3 comes and all the Angery people say WTF it wont run 30fps at 640x480.

Actually I am hoping my GF3 Ti200 (clocked 200/440) is gonna be able to even do that much in 640*480 at max settings come D3!!

According to rumours on Rage3d, a GF3 will be able to do 75-80 fps at 1024*768*32 on Doom3.

yes yes you told me that. But I still have doubts about the credibility of this info. Who knows? Maybe it was nowhere near max settings! We need Carmack to help us here! He must optimize the game as DX8 should, so that the Gf3s will work fine.

February 17, 2002 7:28:57 PM

Ok, think of this way, Carmack recommends the GeForce256 as the minimum fully playable graphics card for Doom3. That would mean 640*480 MAX at ~30fps. A GF3 has roughly 3 times the triangle throuphput of a GeForce256 while an R8500 has 4 times that of a GeForce256.

February 17, 2002 7:53:09 PM

Indeed these are valid points, but it still remains to Carmack's POV about saying even GF4s are not enough, which opens a door to many questions!
One can only hope he hurries up making the news public and explain more of our cards' fate!

My Radeon 8500 will because it can render multiple textures in one pass :D . GF4 can do that.
