Hi,

I have just built a new pc with the following.

P4 3.2
512 Ram
Radeon 9600 Pro AGP video card
FUJITSU SIEMENS D1675 motherboard
BIOS: 4.06 Rev. 1.01.1675
Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 (sp2 is built into the install cd)

I can install XP and get to the point where it is starting up windows for
the first time at the black screen where the blue bar is meant to scroll
across the screen, But it doesn't it just will freeze at this point and then
reboot after a few seconds. When I try booting up in safe mode it will
freeze at the same point but the screen will go all funny with yellow
greenish lines all over the screen.

I took out the Radeon AGP card and put in an old 2MB PCI card and XP booted
up fine and detected the card and everything works. From within windows I
installed the latest Catalyst drivers (I also tried the ones that came on
the driver cd) but XP still will not boot the Radeon card.

I reformated and reinstalled Windows a number of times but the same thing
keeps happening every time. I installed Windoes 2000 and I got my Radeon
working on it without any problems. The fact that it works on Win2k tells me
that it is probably not a problem with the hardware itself. I have been
stuck like this for days and I dont have a clue what to do next can anybody
give me any ideas?

Thanks in advance

I managed to fix the problem. I needed to update my FUJITSU SIEMENS BIOS. It
worked fine after that
