this is something i dont understand why is ati calling the R8800's core the rv250 not just r250? it seems strained to me cause the r7500 was the rv200 which is a less powerfull processor so why would the call there most powerful gpu the rv250 not r250

More about : ati gpu numbering

It's called the RV250 because it will be a value GPU once the R300 is released. I believe the V means a minor upgrade.

AMD technology + Intel technology = Intel/AMD Pentathlon IV; the ULTIMATE PC processor

i guess that makes sense since the 7500 was the same as the original radeon just .15 not .18

well i think the R300 got pushed back. So the RV250 is taking its place. Image ATi's orginal Value card playing high end ironic :-|

I Love playing on my GameCube or PC cuz there both ATi powered...
