Is the Geforce3 ti200 significantly faster than the Geforce2 GTS/Pro? I can get the pro for about half the price.

GF3 is signifficantly faster than the GF2 family and includes support for DirectX 8.

If you are going to get a GF2 card, opt for the GF2Ti, I just did a ton of research and you can get it for slightly less than a Pro or GTS while getting about a 5% increase in performance over the Pro and GTS. The GF2Ultra is still the fastest GF2 card, but I think the price still has not come down (around 150). It is only 5-10% faster than the GF2Ti. If you are bargain shopping the GF2MX400 is only about $50, and can run pretty much any game in 1024x768 with 16bit color.

After all the research I did, I justified getting the GF3ti200 over the GF2Ti. You might also want to look at the Radeon 8500LE if you are spending GF3ti200 money.

Also the GF3 Ti200 is the perfect overclocker for value. I ran mine up to Geforce 3 speeds, and now I just saved around 200$ CDN!!
Fact is many ran it up to GF3 Ti500 speeds at stock cooling! No addition fans or whatsoever. Best overclockers according to THG are the Asus V8200T2 and Gainward.
