Wireless between two buildings.

I soon will be in the process of attempting to connect my home office
to another office building around 800 feet away I will be sharing
files between computers and also Internet. There are a few low
hanging branches in the way but if needed will remove for a clear line
of sight. I will be using two WRT54G routers to bridge the
connection. Mainly concerned with the antennas what strength are some
of you using to go this distance and what kind of signal are you
maintaing. I have been looking at the 24 db parabolic
antennas is this over kill or is there such a thing. I have read
about the can-tanna,not completely out of the picture but was thinking
about long term maintance won't as little as possible that why I am
looking at manufactured antennas. Any recommendation will be
appreciated.

Right on, and at 800ft LOS a 24db para is massive overkill. A higher
gain omni or low gain directional will be more than enough.

Try it with just the stock ant. for starters and go from there.
