Need a modem fix----- to wake on ring

Forum Windows 7 : General Discussion Need a modem fix----- to wake on ring

Modem is from - Zoom model 3035 PCI-express V.92/V.90 56K Fax Modem. This is installed into an HP pavillion elite model e9250t. Processor is Intel Core i7-860 My O.S. is windows7 professional 64 bit. Modem works great as long as my co0mputer is awake. I need it to wake on ring to receive faxes. I've looked into power management for the pci-e. Nothing there to help! Not sure where else to look. I've call HP and got a tech who didn't know anything about modems. It seems as though no one else did either
Thanks
John

Okay, so how do I get to the bios for this?

when you turn on your computer you should see an hp logo or something similiar. below that should be a message for you to hit a key to enter bios setup (f8 or something like that)

When you say "wake on ring" meaning from suspend or from an off state?

You should check the device options for the modem, may be the port it's on, and see if there is a setting that states "allow this device to wake computer". I don't remember the exact wording on this.

Thank you, But I have been there and checked that out. Unfortunately there is not a setting for power management there either.

Thanks you for your advice here too. But I have been there and checked that. Nothing relating to modems there.

I have a similar problem. I have the modem (in-build CX11256) set to wake from sleep but it will not work. It previously worked (mobo was replaced like for like - Asus IPIBL-LB). No setting in BIOS for sleep. Could it be a power supply problem or do I need a new MOBO?

What is MOBO? I've given up on trying to work a modem altogether. I've stopped my phone service. And I've sent the modem card back to the manufacturer. I'm tired of paying for something that I'm not able to use.
