AGP w/VGA Monitor

Hello,
First time to this forum.
I just upgraded to a new system, AMD Athlon 900mhz with a ECS K7S5A mthbd using Hercules 3D Prophet 4000xt 32mb AGP video,OS Win Me. When connected to my Compaq VGA mdl 461 monitor it posts fine by when Win load the screen flashes on and off. Is this monitor compatiable with AGP? It looks like its not syncing. I installed my pci video and it posted fine, but a restarting windows loading bar came on the bottom and just sat there.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds like you need a new monitor, but you could set your monitor at 640x480 in safe mode and it would come back into windows, then tell windows what kind of monitor you have. The default frequency for the video card is probably higher than the max frequency of the monitor, so you'll have to force it to the right frequency, which is probably 60Hz.
