I am currently running a Dell system with 512MB, P3-1G and a Geforce 2 card that came with the system. I was thinking of upgrading to a Geforce 4. From what I am reading tho, it doesn't seem like it would pay to make that jump.
I wanted to know if anyone has some advice on whether to just hold onto my Geforce 2 and wait until Dx9 comes out or if I should jump to a Geforce3 Ti500? Is there a tremendous difference between the 2 and 3 Ti500 (aside from the price I mean!)?
Thanks

yes. there is a big jump in performace between the gf2 and the gf3 line. especailly at higher resolution ie: reso above 1024x768x32...etc at lower resolution ie:800x600 up to 1024x768 at 16 bit the gf2 ultra would be neck to neck with the gf3 ti200. i'm running an ageing GF2 Ti, although it is still a fast card but it already starts to show it's age with some of the newer games and my advice would be , get a gf3 ti500 for now since it's price is dropping. and wait another yr till AGP 8x comes out and DDR 333 becomes radily availble THEN get a new mobo + CPU and a killer GPU , the GF5 maybe? if Nvidia still call it this name
