Supposedly, according to some "ATI Insiders" at Rage3D, now that ATI has fixed OpenGL performance for the most part, they'll start focusing on improving Smoothvision performance and quality to compete with at least the GF3Ti500. Again these are just rumours so I would take them with a grain of salt. However, it's always good to look forward to something.

hey maybe Radeon 8500 can drop in price a little more and become an unbelievable performer for a low price. It has the potential to completely steal the Geforce 4 MX market away if it drops to around $120-140 without the need of mail in rebates, or instant rebates.

ATI is working harder on the drivers now to get it to compete with the Ti4200, I believe.

rebates are only found on those big corporate computer shops...for 160 you can get a Radeon 8500 64MB from small business computer shops...comparing 160 to GF3's 300 price
it ain't bad at all, even better...Damn I love those companies that stand for low price without compromising performance! my highest respect to AMD and ATI!
