Lost color on computer windows 7

I unhooked my moniter and when rehooked I had no red color

Unplug the monitor cable and look for bent or broken pins in the male connector.

I did find when I move the cord to a different position the color comes back. I thank you so much! The problem seems to be in the cord where it has a larger section of cord?? Something must be broken inside the cord there,
