I have a new computer with Xp as the operating system. I would like to have windows explorer always start up as if I had clicked My Computer where the drives are displayed instead of Desktop. Is it possible to force Windows Explorer to open where it was the last time it was closed?

I have the target line for the Windows Explorer shortcut set to look like this: C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /n,/e,c:\

... and this causes Windows Explorer to always open with the root of the C: drive highlighted and expanded.

You might want something else, and that is altered with command-line switches, as illustrated on this page:
