Hi, my 75GXP just crashed on me, and I now have a 80gb Seagate... However, I'm having trouble installing XP on it. The thing is, I'm installing on a blank HD and I have a SCSI CD-ROM! How do I go about getting DOS to recognize the CD-ROM, so that I can install it after I use the bootdisk? I'm using a win98se bootdisk, is that OK?
I've partitioned (1 partition) and formatted the harddrive and copied system files onto it. How do I get the CD to work?
I haven't worked much with XP but is there anyway you can make XP boot disk? There should be a directory on the cd that will allow you to make boot disk.
At the very beginning of setup, you need to hit F6 to install SCSI drivers. Then, insert a disk with the drivers on it. They'll load into setup, and you should be fine.
Hrm... the CD is bootable itself, but I've been running into problems. After the initial install where it installs all the files and restarts... it just keeps restarting. Over and over and over again!!! Any suggestions?
I would try taking the CD out and see how far it goes. How far is it getting before it restarts. Are you getting any blue screens or any errors. I don't know what else to tell you. Try formatting and reinstalling and then when it wants to reboot take the cd out and reboot.
All boot disks are more or less the same. They off a help option, a cd rom support and no cd rom support options. Do yuou not have an ide cd you can use then once you've installed windows install your scsi gear.
