Computer Goes into sleep mode fine, but not hibernate

My windows 7 system goes into sleep mode only once i've disabled hybrid sleep. I enabled hibernation and tried going into that, but the screen goes off, comes back on to the login prompt.
If it can go into sleep mode, I figure it's not a driver issue.
But then, why won't it hibernate.
Thanks for your help.

  1. You can gain some insight into the problem if you look at the Event Viewer after you've tried to hibernate. It should say what is bringing your system out of hibernation.

Go to your start button, right-click 'Computer' and select 'Manage' from the dropdown list. You'll find the System Event Viewer in the left-hand pane.
  2. in device properties check your network card properties.
theres a power option, disable the check next to -this device can wake up the pc
