Turn off Auto screen resolution?

I have a Home theater PC on my home theater system connected via HDMI to an AMP then to a tv all with HDMI. Some times when I turn everything on the computer is in a 1024 x 768. And it doesn't go back until something triggers a new resolution, like exiting or starting Windows Media center and it goes back to 1920x1080. I am guessing when I start up the AMP it can't identify the device so i goes to a default resolution.
So I there a way to force it to stay at 1920x1080?

Hi CatsRules, did you ever figure out how to make this work? I've just set up an htpc and have this same problem.

I have not seen this happen for a long time on my HTPC, I am hoping the problem fixed it's self.

I am thinking it might have been a driver or windows update that fixed the problem.
I would try to update as much as I can, and see if that fixes the problem.
