Got my new Radeon 8500. Formatted my computer. Installed 3dmark. My rig and 3dmark scores are as follows:

800 mhz Athlon (t-bird)
mobo with kt133a chipset
256 megs of PC 100
Radeon 8500
Win 2k

3dmark score of 4872

I thought the score seemed a little low, your thoughts....

Defonately seems a bit low
(1.2Gig Athlon, 8KHA+Mobo 256MBDDR & 64Mb Kyro2 card gives me 6500-7000 3dmarks2000 & 2500-3000 3dmarks2001)

Hold on... with 3Dmark, 2000, 2001 or 2001SE ???
R U using the standard test resolution of 1024x768x32 ???

Which drivers U using & is this card the full, Lite (ie LE) or the even slower oem version ???

---If at first you dont succeed... get a bigger hammer... that'll teach it !!!---

If you use it @ 1024x768x32 this score is normal .

Don't forget the you are using a 800Mhz pross and PC100 memory, upgrade at least your memory to PC133 you should get a 500+ in your score.

The faster a computer is, the faster it will reach a crashed state

Remember your processor isn't using 133 FSB that the KT133a chipset is capable of, get an AMD Thunderbird "C" version, or even an Athlon XP and some PC133 memory and your scores will boost considerably.
If you drop the $150 for an athlon XP 1700+ and 256 megs of PC133 ram you'll get an unbelievable performance boost.
Theres also a chance your PC100 ram will run PC133 without problems, it all depends on the brand/quality.

If my response is brief and vague its because the info you provided is too!

That sound about right for your CPU and Motherboard. Did you get the retail or an OEM 8500?

If you upgraded to a DDR motherboard and got PC2100 ram, you could probably OC your CPU by clocking the FSB to 133 (Bringing you up to 1066). It would also give you a noticeable performance gain in everything, but especialy in 3DMark.

Ok sorry I'm sorry I'm using 3dmark 2001se, and yes I am using the standard resolution, and I'm using the 6043's, and it's a full version card, not OEM.
Sorry bout that.
