Torn graphics in OpenGL

When I run openGl games like Wolfenstein, Medal of Honor and now Jedi Knight 2, going forwards & backwards is smooth enough but if you move sideways or look around with your mouse, the scenery tends to rip a bit. I thought it might be my Geforce 2MX but I have just got a Geforce 4 Ti 4400 and it is the same at all resolutions. I have an Athlon 1.3Ghz with 256Mb Ram so the system is pretty good. Direct X games such as Max Payne seem ok. I am running the latest video drivers. Any ideas?
