I'm assuming there will be one (there had BETTER be one). Here is what
I want, I hope Nintendo is listening:
More cups. You can even cheapen out and just include the cups from the
SNES and N64 Mario Karts, albeit with updated graphics. This would make
me very happy, but so would some entirely new tracks.
All battlemode tracks should take their cues from the original Mario
Kart. MK64 and DD had either over-simplified flat courses or
overly-complex multi-tiered courses that led to confusion and mindless
chases. What worked so well in the original Mario Kart battle mode was
that it was easy to know where your opponent was in relation to, and it
was easy to get to him (by the same token, it was easy to run away).
Also, the jumping feather added a lot of depth, and I'd like to see this
item make a comeback.
Better red shell navigation. Something between the original MK and
MK64. DD had really buggy shell navigation (and I noticed green shells
didn't last to long, and I loved the mayhem that a butt load of green
shells added). You could fire a red shell at somebody more or less
ahead of you and it would either lock on or veer off for no reason, and
sometimes after locking on it would veer off anyway. The red shells
need to do a better job of locking on, but not *too* good (in the
original MK you had to have a clear path and aim properly, the shell
wouldn't go around corners).
The blue shell should run along the ground rather than fly in the air.
This makes the item deadlier. As it is in DD, what do I care if I'm in
8th and I fire a blue shell? All I do is take out the person in first
and *maybe* a few people around him.
The lightning bolt needs to last longer like it did in the first two
games, and you need to be able to squash shrunken karts.
For really destructive hits (like a blue shell, or hitting a green shell
head-on), how about flinging the racer out of his kart so he has to walk
back to it like in Road Rash? He'd also have to avoid the other karts
coming at him.
More unlockables, especially karts. Maybe a system where we can add new
engines and other parts to beef up our cars for when we go racing
online...there will be an online mode, right?
Keep Koopa Troopa. Ditch Wario and Waluigi for some other, less played
characters. Think Sonic, Pikachu, Aiai (Super Monkey Ball), Professor
E. Gadd, Link, etc. Heck, you put the Ice Climbers in SSBM for crying
out loud, so go nuts.
More voicework and character animations. Yes, it's funny when they cry
or applaud at the end of each race, but how about more variety, like
crying harder the worse they lose. Hearing "Ding dong, bye bye" a
jillion times from the Princess in MK64 drove me batty, so add some
variety. And also Mario and Luigi (grown and baby) are hilarious no
matter what they say, give them more lines.
More variety in the environments. The city tracks with traffic are a
step in the right direction. There's nothing wrong with ice, desert,
beach, etc., but let's see some new stuff. Maybe some levels *not*
based on Mario games, like Star Fox, Zelda, etc. Also, why does
Bowser's castle look like a big haunted house instead of how it looked
in the original Mario Kart?
What else would you like to see in Mario Kart for Revolution?
