Hello,
I have 2 36gb raptor drives. I wanted to install xp on one of the drives. But everytime I go to install it during the setup, it tells me that the drive does not have a "windows xp compatible partition". Ummm. ATA100 drives install just fine. I don't understand what it could be. I would assume the drivers for sata controller are loaded otherwise I wouldn't think it would be able to see the drives. Thanks for any help.

Set one of them up for the install and then RAID them afterwards. The drivers for the controller should get good if the setup detects them from the floppy disk. Also Are you using a PCI RAID controller or a MOBO controller?

Hi,
Sorry I didn't give specifics before. I'm using the SATA controller on the IS7. XP seems to recognize the controller (I think) because the drives come up in the create/delete partition list. But if I select either of them and hit enter to install or create a partition it gives me that message telling me that it's a non-XP compatible format. Abit includes a floppy with the SATA drivers on there. I guess I could give that a whirl and have to find my floppy drive. I just figured if XP setup is seeing the drives then all is fine. Thanks.

You HAVE to load the drivers. XP does not know how to control the SATA chip. At the start of setup where it says "Press F6 now to load third party SCSI drivers" hit F6 and put in the floppy. The rest will go just as normal.
