Memory/vcache/chunk sizes in 98se

I have 512 megs of ram and I'm running 98se. I'm trying to find the optimal amount of vcache to use for my system (does a lot of svcd encoding.) Right now I have min/max vcache set at 128 megs, and chunk sizes of 512 bytes.

I play games occasionally, but as I said, I do mostly video transcoding/audio encoding.

with 512 megs I wouldn't really worry about vcache too much but 448 min/448 max is a good setting(gotta give credit to "Arrow" he came up with these numbers long time ago.)

 I LOVE INTEL. It tastes like chicken

448 is a good minimum and maximum number for the virtual memory ... I don't think you meant this number for the vcache settings. The vcache settings in the System.ini file should be 25% of your installed physical RAM for best performance. A chunk size of 512 is fine.
