does this just sound like a incompatable card?

I recently upgraded to an Athlon 2000+XP and 512 MB of DDR ram. My vid card is still (for right now) a Savage4 32mb card.

With both Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and Jedi Knight II I can lauch the game and play anywhere from 3 to 8 minutes before the screen freezes and on occasion the sound loops over and over, forcing a reboot. I know the card isn't supported by either, but why would I be able to play for a short time before the crash?

Also, all drivers are current.

Any Ideas?

Nope, don't think so...

There are quite a few people out there with this problem, and as it seems to occur on a wide array of platforms.
As far as I can tell this happens only in Q3 engine games, which at least makes me think that this is Q3 related somehow...

S3 cards blow goats. It's kind of pointless having an AXP 2000+ with DDR and a Savage4... you should upgrade. Sorry, not very good advice, but as they say, you get what you pay for.
