When I go into Computer Management and click on Disk Management, all I have
is my hard disk which is a primary partition. I can't find a way for my
computer to allow me to partition the drive... even PartitionMagic can't do
it for me.
Anyone have any ideas how I can fix that?

With windows, partitioning isnt available when IE is open, the only tool
windows
have to partition is FDISK which xp doesnt support, and that is done in DOS.XP
can/could partition in IE if youre drive has unallocated space on the
drive,simply
R.click on the free space in mgt, select create a partition, then format.

hi there,

I have always kept handy a windows 98 bootdisk, i think of all the wrongs
win98SE had, the bootdisk is pretty hand. you can boot from it and run fdisk,
its a simple utility to use. if you dont have a windows 98 machine on hand,
download the disk from www.dootdisks.com

hope this helps.

the biggest problem I have is that there isn't anywhere that will allow me to
r.click in mgmt... At the top it says that I have 26% of my HD free... but at
the bottom my whole HD is in one partition, and there's nothing else...
I guess how would I un-allocate the (free) space for another partition?

FDISK is not of help. It does not exist and would not access the NTFS
partition info correctly

Starting with Partition Magic 7, PM should support XP. Anything older will
will not work.

Not safely possible.
If you have the XP version of partition magic(as Yves mentions), you could
try resizing the primary partition, but you could end up causing problems
for yourself.

Hello JoshG, I've check some info in the net, but I couldn't find the
definite cause of your problem. Anyway, when I had to resize my
partition and create new one I use Acronis Disk Director it's very
convenient and reliable 'partitioning software'
I could easily and quickly shrink my system partition and made it dual
boot.
Try to use it, cauz I've never heard that anybody has problems with
this program.
