MARIO RPG: Forest Maze

Ok in Legend of the Seven stars when I am chaing Geno I get to a point
where there is a save point. After I save there is a screen with 4
exits. Isn't this the spot where you go left, left straight, right?

( I know you are supposed to do it from Mario's point of view )


But I can't get past this maze. Anyone have the way to get to the
special thing the person in town told me I'd get ... anyone have it
from the player (me) point of view?

It doesn't seem like it would be hard.

I think I have it and I keep going back to the same screen, I can go
down a few times to get to the save box, I save whenever I get back to
it and start over trying to get through the maze again.

Also do I have to do this left, left, straight, right without getting
pulled into any fights or does it not matter?

Any help getting through this maze will be appreciated!
