I am seeing Phantasy Star Online III for the Gamecube in the game shops now
for $20 and it advertises "online and offline play." What does it mean by
"offline" play? I am not interested in paying a monthly fee to play, and
I'm especially not interested in buying a network connector for the CG for
just one game. But if I can play this game with my wife on my GC at home I
might be interested in it.

Can someone give me a quick description of how the game plays out in the
offline mode, and how the multiplayer offline works?

The offline game is a series of fights designed to give you an opportunity
to collect cards and learn tactics. You have an opportunity to play both
as a Hunter's Guild command and an Arkz command, so you can collect cards
for both styles of play. Just like with other PSO games, the offline game
lets you build up a competitive character that you can take online. I
don't have the manual in front of me, but if I remember right you can have
two players competing on the same console with multiple memory cards.

You should read through earlier posts on RGVS and AG.phantasy-star for
previous impressions of the game. Hope that's helpful.
