What software were you running that told you to do what you did? If it
scewed things up as bad as you say then you better contact the vendor of
that software and ask for help.

Or do a System Restore to a date/time before you ran the software and made a
mess.

Well open the System Configuration Utility (msconfig.exe) again and select
Normal Startup, click Apply, Click OK and click on YES when asked to reboot.

That's what I did and I still could not get back to the point that I
started. I also tried a system restore but the only day the system would let
me restore to was the point I first ran msconfig.exe. How do I add back in
what I lost? Do I have to re-install the system?

What "software" were you following the instructions from?

What "task" did you complete?

You're leaving out some things here.

Did you remove some kind of malware?
