Sorry about having my greenness three threads in a row here (no I'm not), but I need your help with my Christmas list. Here's what I have so far:

CDs:
Creed - Weathered? (their newest)
Third Day - whatever their newest one is
What other good CDs are out? Something my Christian parents/family wouldn't have a heart attack about buying me.

Software:
Aliens vs. Predator 2

Ok, that's all I have. I'm looking for more stuff in the <$30 range or so. Help me out with any ideas. Thanks

Hmm... I don't know of any games that are sub$30. I don't buy any cd's.. um.. I don't have time to listen to them... yeah that's it... Maybe a DVD? Do you have a dvd player? you could get spaceballs, princess bride, monty phythons quest for the holy grail, office space. All of those are under $30 and most are only $10 or 15.

I don't know if you are into anime or not. But I would highly recommend Samurai X Trust & Betrayal (2 seperate DVD's) and any of the Rurouni Kenshin DVD's. It's an awesome series (samurai x is the oav) that takes place back in the late 1800's in japan. It's about the revolution and is based on a true story. It's tastefully done, add's violence and comedy in. It is a very addicting dvd collection. I currentyly have 16 DVD's of it. The first 13 vol.s, the two oav's, and the movie. I also have the VCD's of the entire series. It is wonderful. It's in japanese with english subtitles or if you are to "good" to watch it in japanese it's dubbed in english. I would highly recomend this. I would watch the OAV's first so you have an idea of what's going on. The DVD's are anywhere from 23~30$ a piece. If you like anime, and maybe even if you don't you'll like Kenshin. I bet 10$'s that if you watch Samurai X Trust and Betrayal you'll be crying at the end. It's like a movie. The art is wonderfully done. I can't say enough about it so I'll just quit while I'm ahead.

Get the Limp Bizkit or some really vulgar rap CD, tell your parents it's good music, then play it really loud!

Maralyn Manson is cool. Your parents will surely find him amusing.

If all else fails are you stuck with the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears?

If you want to get on their nerves just keep playing the star wars main theme at full blast over and over again. Or the stormtrooper attack song. Then convince them that Maralyn Manson is much better.

Screw it. I know what you need. Get the 10:14 min version of the Blade Movie theme "Confusion", a 600W amp, some high quality speakers with a pair of fat 15" subs and go to town. Your parents will definitely not question anything you ever want again.

Just keep playing it over and over again until your ears bleed.

I'm going to get two polk audio dx 10" subs and a MTX 1000watt amp. I would like to get larger speakers but I have to go with what will fit under the rear seats in an extended cab F150. I'm going to build some custom boxes. It'll thump pretty good and is only going to run me around 600.

<b>Bees are on the what now?</b>

Reply to Yahiko81

I too am upgrading my cars system. Got the designs for the box - I'll post it on the web if it looks sweet enough.

I built a 4th order bandpass box with the subs in an isobaric push pull for my last truck. It was pretty sweet... then some fvcker ripped it off and stole all of my [-peep-]. I've been reluctant to buy more stereo equipment since then but I miss it to much.

I have 1 JBL 10" 250w and 2 220w kenwood 6x9's I'm hopefully getting another set of kenwoods and a second identical sub. I will be building a sub box with the subs on either side and the amps in the middle. And the four 6x9's all on the parcel shelf with the grills sprayed gold to match the body work on my car.

<font color=green><b>AMD</b></font color=green> 'cos my computers worth it!

dude that'll look awesome... hey don't you have that light machine? How big is it? If it's not to big maybe you could hook up black or neon lights in your ride and let them groove with the music. That would look cool.

<b>Bees are on the what now?</b>

Reply to Yahiko81

I'm getting a flat circular disk that shoots out electric forks from the middle to the outside of the plate - that will be set in the middle section on clear perspex. Behind the perspex is a hollow compartment which holds the amp and is coated in mirror or kitchen foil  . The outsides will be the ported sub boxes. All one box split into three. I've found an amp which is blue and chrome - has a perspex top with a blue neon in it.

Like I said I take photos as I go along and post a photo diary.

Ok - I need two 10" subs - what would you reccommend - I've had my JBL for a few months now and it's never let me down - sounds nice as well - it gives a good rumble. Thats why I wanted a second one cos I have it quiet loud and I would like it to last a bit longer. What would you reccommend in the same price bracket and about 200 - 300 watts. I would like a decent sub.

How about the infinity subs with the metal chequer plate dishes. they look sweet but how do they hold up and sound.

<font color=green><b>AMD</b></font color=green> 'cos my computers worth it!

JBL subs are loud and rumble, but they have no punch. You need something to balance that (they're ok, but not by themselves). Find a sub with a good high frequency response.

<font color=orange>Quarter</font color=orange> <font color=blue>Pounder</font color=blue> <font color=orange>Inside</font color=orange>

Reply to FatBurger

Why would you want a sub with a high frequency responce? I would go with Polk Audio Dx 10"'s there fairly cheap and pack a punch.

Reply to dhlucke

I can't add that one to my list...yet.

Anyhow, it's not that hard. I just have a broad range of interests. Besides, it's partially the way you said it.

Car freaks: That I am not.
Computer nerds: Well, that's what this forum is, anyway.
Gamers: Doesn't that fit in with computer nerd?
Audiophiles: That's the tricky one. I'm a semi-pro sound guy, so that helps me out some :)

You want a high frequency response in a sub because it'll catch the full range of bass. Listen to a kick drum sometime (if you can listen to that by itself), it's a pretty good test. Listen through a JBL sub, it'll sound really muddy. Listen through something that gets the higher end, it'll suddenly sound like it should. JBL subs cut off too soon, they don't catch the articulation like other subs do.

Reply to FatBurger

Ok, before we start arguing about the same thing could you please specify what "High" frequency responce is? I think maybe we are on different pages here. I'm thinking high as is anyting over 3khz

<b>Bees are on the what now?</b>

Reply to Yahiko81

That's where the misunderstanding is, then. I mean high response in comparision to other subs.

<b>Bees are on the what now?</b>

I'll admit the JBL rumbles - It makes my head vibrate for ages. I have a few good dance tunes that just suddenly packa long low tone for about 5 seconds - Telling ya it's heaven - I'm in the front seat and I get a massage - no telling what ya get in the back. I need something which does this as well as gets the sharp bass if you get my meaning. Bass comes in many different forms - you have long low bass, long high bass, echos, sharp static, heavy and light. I need about 5 different types of sub to get the full range - what I want is a good allrounder. Preferably two.

My kenwoods are beautiful. They sound so sweet. Because I have a bass box I wanted 6x9's which provided more of the higher end. The pioneer ones and the jvc produced more bass than the kenwoods. Well thats what my bass box is for. So I am definetly getting 2 more kennys unless you guys have a better idea.

Try a Kicker Solo Baric or an Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1 those should suit your needs good enough.

<b>Bees are on the what now?</b>

Reply to Yahiko81

I've been told that infinity don't make brilliant subs - Would mind the kickers though - What kinda price you looking at for those.

The solo barics are square subs. They retail around $299, but I've seen new ones sold on ebay for $169 a piece.

<b>Bees are on the what now?</b>

Reply to Yahiko81

Ahh the square ones - yes There in a magazine I've pick up this month (Max Power) they've got more surface area so they give the rumble but in a smaller space so you get the kick - Not such a bad idea - I forgot about them. How do I bid on ebay?? Are online auctions a good idea for this kinda stuff or should I stay away.
