Damaged Memory Slot?

Last response: in Mac Os X
Share

I Think I have a damaged memory slot on my I MAC. There are 2 slots of 2 GB
each. One slot functions properly and I have installed 2 GB memory in that slot.
The other slot will not take a memory card without beeping.
There may be a bent pin, or other malfunction in the card slot. That is a major
repair to the motherboard on a Mac.
I would appreciate some advice or discussion.

Have you made sure the two ram chips are the same. (the same speed/type)
Are they different brands? this may be an issue.
Do you still get the beeping when you move your original ram chip into the other ram slot? (if you don't then it points to a ram chip problem and not your ram slot.)
have you tried removing your original ram chip and installing the new one (does this beep or boot up okay?)

best of luck
