Not only to score some Nerd points, but for me it is
Zangband ( http://www.zangband.org )

Only won once, but played more times then any number you could possible
think of.

Further, I liked a flash bomberman version called playing with fire

A classic case is Nethack

www.nethack.org

Solitaire games (and those are *my* favourites):

Solitude - http://www.geocities.com/dbergis/freeware.htm
PySol (requires the installation of Python and Tcl/Tk) in several
flavours
http://www.oberhumer.com/opensource/pysol/ (the original)
http://pygames.sourceforge.net/ (the derived PySolitaire)
http://www.mthoodcards.com/cgi-bin/index.py?ultrasol (one line)

I'd have to go with the old standby Solitare which came with my
computer.

I also download a Scrabble-like program from AOL and that's my 2nd
choice.
